Conversions have been happening lately.

We are most often asked if an archive created with ResCarta Tools can be loaded into content management systems like CONTENTdm, dSpace or Fedora. Since all digital items created are open file formats with Library of Congress METS/MODS metadata, our answer is yes.

Now we are being asked if we can capture data from other systems and create a digital archive with the ResCarta Toolkit.  The work involved in gathering metadata from simple Dublin Core or proprietary databases and creating METS/MODS records is not trivial. So while the Toolkit does not currently support direct conversion, we support your efforts here at the Foundation.  We have converted metadata, restored the resolution of down sampled materials, and added full text search to image only documents.

Call us if you are interested in converting to a true archive.
