What can a ScanDay do for your community?

The ResCarta Foundation supports the creation of local cultural archives by holding events called "ScanDays".  The community is invited to bring historic documents, photographs, and objects to be digitized and added to the local digital archive. The person bringing the materials is given a disk containing the digital objects and the metadata worksheet.  Each item granted to the institution is hosted on a website within days of capture.

Below are a few samples of  items brought to a "ScanDay".  See the change in art, tools, technology in your community...

Historic photographs are not only from the 1800's, a photograph from the 1970's will shine a light on your commnunity just the same. Vintage cars, clothing styles, changes in the way we gather together can all be chronicled thru the collection of local photography.

Here is a link to the handout for a presentation we made at Internet Librarian 2011 on the subject. ScanDays.pdf
